Born into an Italian-immigrant family, he started working in his first restaurant at the age of 13 and has filled just about every role in the industry – from dishwasher to pizza chef to restaurant owner. BACKGROUND:

Prior to joining NRP, Tony was a client of NRP. “I’ll never forget this cocky kid that walked into my office in Greenville to buy a pizzeria,” says NRP CEO Sherman Walters. “He represented everything you love to see in a potential owner operator, except having money in the bank. But I knew this kid was going to find a way, so I jumped on for the ride and we found a way together.”

He acquired his first restaurant at the age of 25. He and his partner purchased the Fox’s Pizza franchise that then was on White Horse Road in Greenville. After getting that business on solid ground, he acquired the Crazy Quesadilla restaurant in Greer, SC – and expanded that concept to two locations before liquidating that 2nd location. Today, he and his wife still operate the Crazy Quesadilla in Greer. He and his partners sold the Fox’s Pizza franchise, as well as the 2nd Crazy Quesadilla.

“Operating multiple units in this business really presents different challenges than when you’re on the front lines every day,” says D’Onofrio. “You start to understand the business on a different level – and the importance of having solid systems, routines and standards in place. But at the very core, the business is still the same – providing great food in a great friendly atmosphere.”

Tony immigrated to United States from Italy at the age of 2 years old. His family settled in Upstate NY – but he relocated to the Upstate area at the age of 21, and started working in pizzerias across the Upstate.

“My Nonna Adele is the one who inspired my love for cooking. Growing up in the kitchen with her and sharing her love for entertaining with great food made me realize that I wanted to have a career in this business. From the time I stepped in into the dish pit at 13 years old and tossed my first pie at 15 years old, I just felt at home.”

What I Enjoy the Most About NRP and BNB

I just enjoy being a listening ear and a resource for those that are brave enough to enter the daily grind of this business. It really is a business like no other. Often, just having someone to bounce ideas around with is all you need to find the right answers for your business. I can talk shop with anybody – and I love meeting people that have had success. Their knowledge becomes my knowledge. You just have to know when to listen and when to learn.
